Nardev Kothariji was born on December 23, 1951, in the village of Jokhani, located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttar Pradesh, North India. His father, Sri Abhay Ram Kothari, was a well-known priest in the area, and his mother, Srimati Soni Devi, was a housewife. From a young age, Nardevji was quiet and introspective, preferring solitude over socializing. He often spent long hours walking alone, lost in self-reflection and deep thought.
At the age of 14 or 15, Nardevji began having vivid dreams of kilometer-long snakes on either side of the road, spraying milk onto his uppermost chakra (Aagya Chakra). In these dreams, a white horse would take him to a dense forest where he would receive a yellow mango from a penancing saint under a solitary mango tree. This recurring dream, which often put him into a meditative state upon waking, was later understood after his Shaktipat initiation.
Due to the restraints imposed on his passions in a previous life, Nardev entered into marriage at the young age of 19. After many years of family life, he finally found his Guru at the age of 32.
